Recovery, not discovery
The strongest brands don't invent who they are. They recover what was always true and give it form at a new size.
When growth strains a brand, the instinct is to go looking for a new one. New name, new story, new look, as if the answer were somewhere out there, waiting to be discovered.
It rarely is. More often, the thing that made the organization work is still true. It has just been layered over by everything that comes with scale: more people, more decisions, more distance between the founder's instinct and the hundredth hire.
The work isn't discovery. It's recovery: remembering what's true, giving it form, and helping the world see it again at the size you've become. That's the whole discipline, and it's why we start every engagement by reading the distance between what's lived inside and what's experienced outside.
The work isn't discovery. It's recovery.
